Alberta I. (Schmackel) Howell-Erickson

Alberta I. Erickson, age 83, of Plainfield, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, October 4, 2023 at Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital.
She was born April 20, 1940 in Redgranite, the daughter of Lyle and Velma (Johnston) Schmackel Sr. She married Richard Howell and he preceded her in death in 1966. She later married Emil Erickson on May 18, 1968, he preceded her in death in 1975.
Alberta farmed in the Plainfield area most of her life. She was also employed at River Pines Nursing Home for 37 years where she was the Laundry Aid Specialist until her retirement in 2013. Alberta enjoyed nature’s beauty tending to her flowers, watching birds, cooking and crocheting. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her five children, Ruth (Lonnie) Challoner, Sandra (partner, Artie Gorham) Howell, Brian Howell, Randy (Lori) Erickson and Michelle Huber; 13 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; one sister, Doris Smeltzer; other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.
