Andrew “Andy” P. Jeffery, 84, of Plainfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday afternoon, April 30, 2026, at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Tomah, with his daughter by his side.
Born on March 21, 1942, in Milwaukee to James C. Sr. and Catherine M. (Borosch) Jeffery, Andy spent most of his life in Plainfield. He graduated from Tri County High School and later married Donna Marshall on July 3, 1971. They shared nearly 46 years of love and memories together before her passing in 2017.
Andy proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1968. After returning home, he devoted 35 years to Smurfit-Stone in Adams, where he operated and worked on several machines and later served as a Tooling/Die Coordinator.
He also served his community with great pride as a member of the Plainfield Volunteer Fire Department for 27 years. During that time, he helped restore an antique fire truck and cooked countless chicken dinners for the department’s annual Fireman’s Jamboree.
Andy was happiest outdoors—hunting, fishing, golfing with Archie, and enjoying the simple moments with family and friends. In his younger years, he especially loved salmon and sturgeon fishing with his brother Jim. He taught his daughter Kerry how to fish with a cane pole and often bragged that she always caught the most fish from the time she was little. He cherished his trips up north to the Wiese’s Deer Camp. He was also the kind of person who would rather drive an hour for a five-minute conversation than to talk on the phone.
He enjoyed car shows, camping, and taking rides with his wife in their truck, “Big Boy”—a vehicle everyone in town knew belonged to Andy. He also loved the many pink moped rides shared with Donna, Karen, and Archie. Quiet by nature, Andy still made a lasting impact on many people, sometimes without even realizing it. His sense of humor helped him make friends wherever he went, and his quiet strength, steady presence, and warm smile will be deeply missed by many—especially by his daughter.
Andy is survived by his daughter, Kerry (Derek) Freeman; his grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Sr. and Catherine Jeffery; his wife, Donna; his sisters, Rosemary Dewitt and Eleanor Keenlance; his brother, James Jeffery Jr.; his parents-in-law, Russell and Charlotte Marshall; brothers-in-law Robert Ward and Archie Neal; and sisters-in-law Jen Marshall and Karen Neal.
Honoring Andy’s wishes, no funeral services will be held. A graveside service for all will take place on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 11 a.m. where Andy will be laid to rest next to his wife in the Plainfield Cemetery with full military honors
