Beckie Markowski, age 76, of Redgranite, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 1, 2026 due to complications of a stroke.
Beckie was born on August 9, 1949, the daughter of the late Elton and Dolores Standke. She graduated from Wautoma High School in 1967. On August 30, 1969, she was united in marriage to her loving husband, Donald Markowski. Beckie and Buckwheat were married for 56 wonderful years. She wore many hats during her lifetime: daughter, sister, niece, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. Beckie worked various jobs throughout her life, including: seamstress at Kolpin’s and Midwestern Sporttog, Sherm’s Piggly Wiggly, owner and operator of Schoolhouse Tavern, but most importantly she enjoyed being a wonderful caring grandmother to her grandchildren for several years. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed spending countless hours daily on the telephone with family and friends, checking in and catching up. Beckie’s family was her world.
She is survived by her husband, Donald "Buckwheat" Markowski; her children, Karen (Barry) Mastricola, Joe (Julie) Markowski; grandchildren Brittanie (Brad) Stellmacher, Abbie Mastricola, Chase Mastricola, Kelsi Schmitz, Alex, Lydia and Chloe Markowski; great-grandchild Lovila (May 2026); sister, Roxann Andersen; brothers-in-law Richard (Barbara) Markowski, Thomas (Connie) Markowski; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother Ronald, father-in-law Leonard Markowski, mother-in-law Nina Markowski and brother-in-law Paul Andersen.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 24th at Mastricola’s On Broadway, 689 Broadway, Berlin beginning at 11:00 with a service at 12:30. A meal will be provided. Beckie’s family would like to thank Jeff Stahl of Stahl Funeral Home for his kindness and support and Deputy Ernst of the Waushara County Sheriff’s Department for her compassion during a difficult time.
You will be dearly missed, but your spirit will live on in all our hearts and minds. With love- your family!
