Betsey Lauer, 47, passed away on August 7, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by lots of loving friends and family in her last days.
She was born in Stevens Point on January 20, 1978 to Wayne and Linda (Perry) Lauer. She grew up in rural Plainfield graduating from Tri-County High School. Betsey was a fun-loving spirit, loved life, and was always surrounded by people no matter where she lived or worked. She managed Weezie’s Town Pump in Montello, working there 17 years. She excelled at her job and was very proud to have organized many successful community benefit events.
She was preceded in death by her Mother; Grandparents: Francis Perry, Florence (Palm) Perry, Bernard Lauer, and Marion (Hetzel) Lauer; Aunts: Jane Simonson, Nancy West, and Kathie Coerper; Uncles: Eugene West and John Hassmann; Cousins: Eugene Lauer, Lisa Lauer, Colyn Lauer, and Amanda West; and by several friends.
Betsey is survived by her sons Barrett and Leo, step-son Jeremy Behling (fiance' Bailey), her Father Wayne, step-mother Cathy, step-sisters Rebecca (Christian) Taylor, Amy (Jody) Davidson, and Barb Woyak (Kyle) and their children. Other survivors include: Aunts/Uncles – Pat (Mary) Lauer, Kathleen (Paul) Paddock, Mary (John) Kapraun, Dennis (Carol) Lauer, Mike (Paula) Lauer, Pat Hassmann, Boyd Simonson, Susan (Max) Rios, George (Maureen) Perry, Ralph Coerper, Fran (Linda) Perry, and Jean (Dale) Armstrong; “special brothers”: Aaron, Adam, and Andrew and numerous cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday August 19 from 4-7 pm at Stahl Funeral Home in Plainfield and also on Wednesday, August 20 from 10-11 am at St Paul Catholic Church in Plainfield. Services will be held at 11 am at the church following visitation. There will also be a celebration of Betsey’s life in Montello at a later date.
The family wants to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the loving care provided by all of Betsey’s family and caregivers, for the prayers, and the overwhelming community support during her illness.
