James C. Hanson, age 74, of Hancock, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, April 19, 2026 at ThedaCare Medical Center of Wild Rose.
He was born August 2, 1951 in Milwaukee, the son of Carl and Mildred (Bergstedt) Hanson.
Jim grew up in Milwaukee and attended Pulaski High School. He enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Germany from 1970 – 1974. He returned to the Milwaukee area and was employed as a machinist for many years. In his spare time, he bowled and played pool with friends. He married Barbara Wagner on August 4, 1989 and gain a welcoming family.
He later moved to his retirement home in 2000 where he and Barbara enjoyed spending time with family and friends, hunting, fishing and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. In his later years as health slowed him down, he enjoyed watching television shows with his wife such as “Walker, Texas Ranger”, MacGyver, Classic Car Shows, and Sunday Packer Games.
Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara Hanson, Hancock; two daughters Kathy Ladd (Chris) and Sheri Dietrich (Neal Andrews), and son Brian Dietrich; further survived by his grandchildren Chace, Devin, Emma, Marissa, and Carolina; a great grandson Alex; his siblings Dave Hanson (Shari), Carol Wittig (Pat), Debbie Hanson, Mark Hanson (Becky); Sister-in-Laws Paula Hanson and Cindy Hanson; further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Mildred, step-mother Grace, and three brothers Ron, Paul and Eric.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held later this summer.
