Joan (Mathis) Shelby

Joan “Jo” Shelby, age 79, of Wautoma, passed away Monday evening, September 10, 2018 at Thedacare Regional Medical Center, Neenah.

She was born June 30, 1939 in Saint Cloud, Minnesota, the daughter of Harry and Joan Mathis.  She married Harry Shelby on August 18, 1957 in Wonewoc, WI.  He preceded her in death on October 23, 1996.

Joan was a kind and gentle lady who enjoyed smothering everyone with her love.  She will be remembered for her love of family, puzzles, cards, bingo, board games, knitting and crocheting.  Most of all she loved to make family and friends smile and laugh.

She is survived by her three daughters, Joanne Lynn Sorenson, Helen (James L. Ruelle Sr.) Henke, Ada Nelsa Mae “Shelby” (Jay) Ottenson; her sons, Stanley Shelby and Edward Shelby; further survived by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Harry Shelby.
