Joseph Paul Farago 92 of Hancock, passed away on Saturday January 17, 2026 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau. Joseph was born in Oelwein, Iowa on July 13, 1933 to Paul and Mary (Gergely) Farago. He graduated in 1952 then he joined the Navy in 1952-1956. He was in the Korean War.

Joseph was married to Pearl Billman on December 11, 1954 in Plainfield. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Plainfield. Past Post Commander for VFW Post 6007, Cooties. He had been a Village Trustee, member of the Waushara County Dairy Breakfast, a Scout Leader for Pack # 135 and a Sunday School teacher. He was a past member of the Plainfield Fire Department, Lions Club, American Legion of Bancroft, Lifetime member of Wisconsin Water Well Association and National Ground water Association. He was a proud supporter of the local Little League teams and the Waushara County K-9 program. Joe was named Businessman of the Year for Waushara County in 2022; he also got to go on the Honor Flight in 2016.

He is survived by his daughter Elaine (Dennis) Burckhardt, Oxford; son Terry (Tina) Farago, Plainfield; 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 2 great-great granddaughters, one sister Elizabeth Moon, Minnesota, 2 sisters-in-law; Sharon Billman, Neenah, Linda Billman, Plainfield; his special friend, Lisa Footit. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends; He is preceded in death by his parents; Paul and Mary (Gergely)Farago; his wife Pearl; one brother Steve Farago, 2 sisters Ethel Travis, Mary Bolcskey. 5 brothers-in-law; Russell Billman, Dale Billman, Glen Billman, Walter Billman, Bud McIntee; 3 sisters-in-law; Marge McIntee, Melva Billman and Sue Billman.

Funeral services will be held at Stahl Funeral Home on Saturday February 7 th at 12:00. Pastor Eric Hughes, will officiate. Visitation will be held at the Stahl Funeral Home on Saturday February 7th from 9am-12 noon followed by military honors. Interment will be in the Plainfield Cemetery in the Town of Plainfield in the spring. Please visit, wwwstahlfuneralhome.com to share your online condolences with Joe’s family.
