Leslie A. (Lyness) Peterson, age 75, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025 while surrounded by loved ones.
Born and raised in Oshkosh, Leslie was a 1967 graduate of Lourdes Academy. She married the love of her life, Larry T. Peterson, on August 12, 1972, and they raised their son and daughter, Mike and Marsha, in their loving home.
For over 20 years, Leslie worked as a medical transcriptionist at Ascension NE Wisconsin-Mercy Hospital in Oshkosh until her retirement in 2011.
Known for her zest for life, outgoing personality, and love of music and dancing, Leslie would not leave a restaurant or store without knowing half the staff and without leaving an impression on them so that they knew her by name. She loved her family and friends deeply and was someone who will be forever missed by those who crossed paths with her.
Leslie is greatly loved and missed by her son, Mike (Amy) Peterson; daughter Marsha (Casey Draeger) Walejko; grandchildren Bailey, Brighton, Olivia, Theo, and step grandson Mason; brothers, Joe Lyness, Jed (Mary) Lyness; sister-in-law Sandy (Bill) Caldwell; nieces Melissa, Kristin, and Beth; nephew Martin; friend Tim Gunderson; family, and countless friends who were like family.
She was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Larry T. Peterson, her parents Harold and Elizabeth (Betty) Lyness, her brother and best friend Harold Jr. (Hunter) Lyness, and her in-laws Roger and Margaret Peterson.
A memorial service and celebration of Leslie’s life will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church in Oshkosh at 12:00 PM. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Leslie will be laid to rest beside her loving husband at Lake View Cemetery on Friday, May 9, 2025 at 9:00 AM.
Mom has missed Dad everyday for 27 years, and we find peace in knowing they have been reunited and are dancing together again. We will spend the rest of our lives missing them, but know that they are both happy, healthy, and are laughing together while holding hands. As Mom would say, “We love you infiniterest.”
The family would like to thank the emergency team at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Appleton, WI and the Neuro ICU team at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital in Milwaukee, WI for their impeccable and loving care.
“Everything is as it should be.”
