Trudy J. Tess

Trudy J. Tess, age 79, of Plainfield, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday afternoon, June 7, 2026 at her home.

She was born March 25, 1947 in Chicago, the daughter of Andrew and Dorothy (Roth) Behof. She married Wayne H. Tess, Plainfield, on July 24, 1999.

Trudy grew up in Illinois and moved to the Hancock area where she was employed at Waushara County Human Services with the Child Support organization until she retired in 2011. Trudy loved the outdoors, tending to her flowers, watching the wildlife around their home, spending hours quilting and reading books. She was an active member of the Prairie Pointers Quilters Guild. She loved horses and in her younger years competed in 50 mile endurance races, earning Rookie of the Year in her first year of competition.

Trudy will be greatly missed by her husband, Wayne; her children, John Kirchen, Brian Kirchen and Lisa Zenow; her grandchildren, Allison, Jennifer, Calista, Jocelyn, Jonathan, Sebastian, Kira, Evie and Jackson; great grandchildren, Carter and Vinny; her siblings Dorothy, Mary T, Ann, John, Jerry and Jim; stepdaughters, Erin and Stacey; further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Andy, Mike and Terry.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at the Stahl Funeral Home, Plainfield. Visitation starts at 10:00am with a celebration of life ceremony to follow at 11:30am.  Any monetary gifts will be donated on her behalf to her favorite charities.
