Alfred W. Meyers

Alfred W. Meyers passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2018, surrounded by family in Alma Center, WI. Alfred was born December 13, 1933, to Walter G. and Julia Mae Meyers in Herbert, IL. He married Elinor P. Leff on May 29, 1965 at the First Lutheran Church in Dekalb, IL. They were married for 53 years.

He farmed in Hebert, IL on the family homestead until January 1974, when they moved north to Bancroft, WI to farm.

He attended Davis Grade School and Belvidere High School. He served in the US Army from 1956-1958. He retired from farming the family farm in 1995. At that time, he began working for other area farming companies including Seneca Foods, Wysocki Farms and Burns and Sons Farms and finally retiring in 2006.

He enjoyed taking care of his family, wintering in Weslaco, Tx, and socializing with friends. His greatest joy was children whether it was his own children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews or special friends. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers (and sometimes the Cubs).

Alfred is survived by his wife, Elinor Meyers and children; John (Joy) Meyers of Almond, WI,  Julie (Troy) Skroch of Alma Center, WI and Jennifer (Jason) Cordy of Rhinelander, WI, 4 Grandchildren; Gabriel and Zoe Skroch, and Ella and Nathaniel Cordy and 3 step-grandchildren; Bethany, Raymond and Jon Pieters, sister-in-law Shirley Meyers of Whitewater, WI, brother-in-law Richard (Dessie) Leff, Kimberly City, MO and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edgar Meyers, sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Harold Emanuel.

A memorial service will be held 11:15 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2018, at Bancroft Baptist Church, 8376 Klondike St, Bancroft, WI 54921. A visitation will be held prior from 9am to 11am at the Bancroft Baptist Church.
