Barbara J. (Briese) Ely

Barbara J. Ely (Briese) age 77, of Coloma, passed away Wednesday evening October 7th,  2020 at Harris Villa in Westfield.

She was born September 2, 1943 in Westfield, the daughter of Darwin and Elda (Schrank) Briese Sr.  She married Thomas R. Ely on June 9, 1962 in Coloma.  He preceded her in death on October 30, 2014.

Barbara was a graduate of Westfield High School.  She farmed with her husband in the town of Coloma for several years and also worked at Brakebush in Westfield for several years.  She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She will be remembered for her loving smile, care and compassion for others.  She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Coloma.

Decorating cakes was a passion of hers. For many years she decorated cakes to help families celebrate their special occasions.

She is survived by her children, Cindy (Todd) Lewellyn, North Branch, MN. Robert Ely, Berlin and Sara Ely (Jason Bartolaba), Coloma; 10 grandchildren, Adam (Serena) Perschke-Ely, Allen Ely, Thomas (Megan) Lewellyn, Nicole Lewellyn, Bridgette (Michael Peters) Lewellyn, Garrison Walters, Molly Walters, Marqus Ely-Bartolaba, Sadie Bartolaba, Alyssa Bartolaba; her great grandchildren, Tanner, Dillion, Tyler, Gannin, Tracker, Brynn and Delilah.; further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her son, Scott Ely.
