Dale Vroman Obituary

Dale D. Vroman, 87, life-long resident of Hancock, WI, passed away peacefully at White Pine Senior Living Memory Care, Cottage Grove, MN on December 8, 2018.

Dale was born on October 11, 1931, to Lloyd and Evelyn (Heller) Vroman. He attended Tri-County High School, where he met his wife, Barbara Fitz, whom he later married on June 31, 1951.  Dale joined his parents in operating Big Prairie Farms (Plainfield, WI), which at its peak covered approximately 1,000 acres in Waushara county and employed up to 100 employees during harvest season of grains and potatoes. He and Barbara raised their family of 4 children, and Dale remained on the farm for approximately 20 years.

Dale later pursued a career of truck driving from 1970 - 1995, including employment with Les Johnson Cartage, Schwerman Trucking, Leicht Transfer, and Advance Trucking. He also owned and managed several rental properties.  He retired at the homestead in rural Hancock.

Dale enjoyed deer hunting with his two sons, Marc and Ryan, and in later life enjoyed joining them at various antique tractor shows. Dale’ greatest enjoyment was spending time with family and friends. He liked outdoor cooking and creating his own BBQ recipes for the family.

In the summer, he loved gardening and in its day, the garden produced a variety of flowers and lots of produce from berries to asparagus to rhubarb.

Dale attended the United Methodist Church in Plainfield, WI.

Dale is survived by his daughter, Kim (Robert) Pence, of Plano, TX, and two sons, Marc (Doreen) Vroman of Poynette, WI, and Ryan (Faye) Vroman of Cottage Grove, MN.  He is further survived by 4 grandchildren, Travis Vroman of Madison, WI, Isaac (Abby)Vroman of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Nicole Vroman of Brooklyn Park, MN and Brooke Vroman of St. Louis Park, MN, and 3 grand step-children, Natalie Pence (Las Vegas, NV), Niki Pence (Dallas, TX), and Sam Pence (Plano, TX, one sister, Sharon (Tom) La Fontaine of Wisconsin Rapids and many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
