Delores Nelson Obituary

Delores A. Nelson, age 92, of Plainfield, passed away peacefully, April 24, 2021 at her home with her family at her side.

She was born February 2, 1929 in Stratford, Wisconsin the daughter of Bert and Tillie (Griener) Hughes.  She married Gordon Nelson on April 12, 1947 and they began their life together on the multi-generational family farm. He preceded her in death on March 19, 1981. 

Delores was a kind and loving lady that cherished her family more than anything.  You could always find her outside tending to her lawn from the last snow melt of spring through the first snow in the fall.  She loved to mow her lawn and took the job very seriously. 

Delores was a dedicated seamstress, known throughout the community for her never-ending talent; she would not shy away from a challenging sewing job. 

She was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Plainfield.  Delores enjoyed volunteering and helping out in any way she could.

She is survived by her loving children, Sue (Jim - deceased) Schmick, Jean (Douglas) Schwinn, Rita (Larry - deceased) Williams, Carol Nelson, David (Cathy) Nelson, Diane (Mike) Beigel, Art Nelson, Bev (Tim) Beigel; her loving grandchildren, Ronald Schmick, Jeffrey Schmick (deceased),Jackie Schmick, John Schwinn, Michael Schwinn, Stephen Schwinn, Chad Williams, Casey Olson, Justin McMillan, Keith Nelson, Eric Nelson, Natasha Nelson, Matt Beigel, Melissa Pray, Austin Beigel, Amber Gordon, Brett Beigel, Mallory Rutkowski, Morgan Warzynski, Joseph Beigel; 22 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren.   She is also survived by one brother, Donald Hughes (California).

In addition to her husband Gordon, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters, two son-in-laws and one grandson. 

To honor Delores’ wishes, private family services will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Plainfield.  Burial will follow in the parish cemetery
