Dennis Wedde Obituary

Dennis Glenn Wedde went to his Lord and Savior on April 4, 2021, Easter Sunday, after an intense struggle with brain cancer. He was the firstborn to Clarence and Gertrude Wedde on August 18, 1944. Dennis attended the Spees Corner School until 8th grade and went on to graduate from Wautoma High School and Waushara County Teachers College. He became an 8th grade Social Studies teacher. He later attained his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education. Dennis taught and coached athletics in the Wautoma Area School District for 34 years.

In 1964, he married Mary Jane Schroeder; they remained married for 19 years and had four children. In 1984, Dennis married the love of his life, Darlene Radke, and added her three children to the family. 

Dennis had a heart for serving his community. He volunteered with the JayCees, Hope Lutheran Church, was a Hunter Safety Instructor for 27 years, served on National Ski Patrol for 25 years, and was elected to Wautoma City Council, and later, Waushara County Board where he held a position for 19 years. Dennis was named the Wisconsin District 5 Conservationist of the Year in 1992.

As a lifelong resident of Waushara County, Dennis loved the outdoors and spent time farming, gardening, hunting, fishing, walking in the woods, and golfing. He loved to take a ride in his red mustang convertible during the summer.

Dennis was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandpa, and great-grandpa. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Darlene, his first wife, Mary Jane Clark, his children, Amy (Michael Kowalewski) Hedrick, Tracy (Tracy Lee) Voss, Rick (Erika) Radke, Julie (Jerry) Schauer, Ryan Radke, Bill Wedde, Roxanne (John) Oldham.

Dennis is further survived by grandchildren Ashley (Ryan Goldsmith) Wedde, Joshua (Ariel) Hedrick and children Jayd, Hayden, Evan, Ethan, Levi, Zachary (Kari) Hedrick and children Harmony, Lillianna, Jacob, and Kaleigh, Jared Schauer, Samantha (Richie) Ostertag and daughters Marley and Mackenzie, Casey Duket, Jordan Schauer, children Madison and Beckom, Jesse Schauer, Evan Radke, Beau, and Alexa Oldham, Eva and Hope Wedde.

Dennis is further survived by his siblings, Sue Gabryshak, children Trudi (Steven Moore) and Peter James (Dawn) Gabryshak, children Patrice and Pierce, James (Sally) Wedde, sons Garrett and Nicolas, In-laws David (Janet) Modlinski, and children Mark (Rhiannon) Ludlow, sons Reece and Riley, and Jason (Amy) Modlinski, daughters Emma, Abby, Hazel, and numerous Cousins, Aunts, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Gertrude Wedde, and numerous other relatives.

In lieu of flowers, a scholarship will be established in his name for students pursuing a career in Education.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Wild Rose Hospital, ThedaCare, and Rosemore Village in Wild Rose for the tender care they administered to Dennis, especially Kristin and her hospice team.  Stahl Funeral Services and Hope Lutheran Church have been selected to assist with arrangements.
