Donald Rapacz Obituary

Donald S. Rapacz, age 91, of Hancock, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2020 at Heartland House, CBRF in Wautoma.

He was born May 19, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Stephen and Mary (Michalek) Rapacz.  He married the Clara M. Vaessen on August 29, 1963 in Chicago. They were blessed with nearly 57 years of marriage and four loving children (Cindy, Kathy Tammy and Donna).

Don served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.  After his services in the Army, he returned to Chicago where he was later employed at American Airline in the Air Transport Division.  Don had a love for nature and the outdoors, where you could always find him hunting and fishing.  His love for the outdoors brought him north to the Hancock area where he was a founding member of the Greenwood Rod and Gun Club.  Don was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Plainfield.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Stephen and Mary Rapacz and brother Edmond Rapacz and daughter Donna J. Murphy.

He is survived by his wife, Clara Rapacz, Hancock; his daughters, Cindy Kilian, Kathy (Donny) Daniels both of Chicago, and Tammy Jones of Dallas.  His grandchildren Heather, Courtney, Ashley, Kirsten, Zachary, Ryan and Jessica.  One great-grandchild Madison; further survived by other relatives and many special friends.

As a result of the ongoing and ever-developing health crisis in the world and our community, and with genuine concern for the people for whom they love, Don’s family has opted to postpone services until everyone can attend.  Serve dates and times will be announced later.
