Henry "Hank" Baillod, Jr. Obituary

Henry (Hank) Baillod Jr, age 80, of Hancock, passed away at his home peacefully surrounded by his family on December 28, 2021.

While the photo might say Rebel Without a Cause, Hank always had a cause in his life, his first love was family, followed closely by farming, he grew up on the family farm, and his first jobs were working on other local farms, before he started working for Green Giant.  After he started working for Green Giant it became a game of moving his family in their mobile home between Hancock, WI and Le Sueur, MN every spring and fall, spending winters in MN and summers in WI.  It was also during this time Hank decided it was time to grow himself and started attending college classes in the winter and once he stopped moving the family back and forth and stayed in WI he continued his education through UWSP, the local University of Wisconsin in Stevens Point during the winter months and continued working for Green Giant who had rented acreage from his family’s farm during the summer months.  By the time he had competed his degree, he was hired as the first person in Wisconsin for a company out of Idaho named American Potato later known as Basic American Foods, a company he would later retire from.

Hank not only grew Professionally but he also grew with his community, becoming a coach for Little League when his kids were involved as well as the Scouts; Becoming a long-term member of the Hancock Volunteer Fire Department, which not only included responding to fire calls, but also included a lot of work doing fund raisers for the Department to keep them running!

Hank also enjoyed many other things, including sports that he participated in, such as hunting, fishing, golf and bowling and those he enjoyed to watch such as baseball, basketball, and football!  Even after his retirement, Hank kept busy working on restoring old tractors, working for Jack’s Produce, and even becoming the Star Employee of the Month at Granny’s Greenery many times!

Beyond work Hank also stood up for family and was always there for them no matter what!  And was always there to support them through challenges and changes in life and even Love and Support them when all else seemed to be against them for them being whom they were born to be!  Never once did his love and support waiver for his family!  If Hank Loved you…he was behind you no matter what!!!

Hank is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Shirlee, His 3 Children Lance (Kim) Baillod, Lisa, & Logan Baillod, His 5 Grandchildren Zachery Baillod, Christopher (Kendra) Rader, Steven Baillod, Kasey (Leighton) Bates, and Courtney Baillod, and His 4 ¾ Great Grandchildren Elijah Baillod, Zoey Baillod, Henry Rader, Shirleigh Rader, and Baby Rader, and His 3 Sisters, Louise (Frank) Barnett, Madline (James) Callahan, and Jo Ann (David) Siebel.  He was proceeded in death by his parents Henry A. and Mary L. (Thurston) Baillod and his Mother and Father-in-Law Hilmer (Bud) and June (Bender) Dudei.
