Mary C. Schroeder

Mary C. Schroeder, age 101, passed away peacefully Friday morning, January 26, 2024 at Thedacare Regional Medical Center in Neenah.

She was born July 16, 1922 in West Bend, the daughter of Daniel and Mary (Bourke) Schroeder . She married Chester “Chet”  Schroeder on June 23, 1944. He preceded her in death on January 19, 2002.

Mary grew up in the West Bend area.  She attended the University of Milwaukee and where she met Chet and received her teaching degree.   Mary taught for over 35 years, retiring from Tri-County Schools.   She was the first kindergarten teacher at Tri-County.  She was an active member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church and was instrumental in the religious education program. She enjoyed golfing with Chet and her friends from Plainfield.  For many years Mary and Chet spent winter months at Siesta Village in Texas and had a wonderful time with friends there.  Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family.

She is survived by her loving children, Dan (Mary) Schroeder, Ed (Sue) Schroeder, Susan (Cal) Kuphall, Chris (Jim) Thompson; Nine Grandchildren, Rebecca (finace’ Jim) Schroeder, Todd (Barbara) Schroeder, Steven (Sara) Schroeder, Donica (Tim) Goodwin, Courtney Hornick, Rina (Scott) Rasmussen, Jennica (Andy) Finchum, Alicia Thompson and Kyle Thompson; 13 great-grandchildren; further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. in the Stahl Funeral Home, Plainfield.  Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m.  Tuesday until the time of services at the funeral home.  A rosary service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday followed by the visitation.  Mary will be laid to rest next to her husband in the St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery, Plainfield.
