Ronald Daberkow Obituary

Ronald Wayne Daberkow, 87, of Stevens Point, formerly of Bancroft and Plainfield, passed at Atrium Riverview Lodge in Stevens Point on July 26, 2018.

Ron was born on July 22, 1931 at home in Bancroft to the late Fred A. and Agnes (Waller) Daberkow. He attended school in Bancroft and graduated from Almond in 1949.

Following his high school graduation, Ron worked at A&P in Antigo and Wausau and was a manager at the Gamble Stores in both West Bend and Platteville.

In 1968, he purchased the Plainfield Drive-In on the corner of 73 and 51 (now known as BB) and renamed it Ron’s Fine Foods. He expanded the restaurant in the early 1970s. He then sold the restaurant for the second and final time in 1987.

Between the two sales of the restaurant he purchased and ran the Nakomis West Resort in Tomahawk, which he then sold as condominiums in the late 1980s.

Even though he never married, family was the most important thing to Ron. He enjoyed fishing trips with his brothers and spending time with his sister and nieces and nephews.

He is survived by: sisters-in-law: Betty Daberkow and Joanne Daberkow; nephews and niece: Richard Daberkow, Robert (Judy) Daberkow, and Susan (Stan) Holm; great nieces and nephews: Brianne (Chris) Kotolski; Gwen, Jack, and Grace Daberkow; Hannah and Karyna Holm; and Heather and Travis Bielen; great great niece and nephew: Quinlan and Shaylyn Kotolski.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother James, sister Joyce, and brothers Leland and Larry.

A visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31 at Stahl Funeral Home, Plainfield. Services will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Almond on Wednesday, August 1 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Brian Roehrborn officiating. Internment in the Town of Pine Grove Cemetery to follow.
