Wilbur "Bill" G. Ingersoll

Early on the morning of Thursday, December 24, 2021 Wilbur (Bill) Ingersoll, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 97.

Funeral Service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Plainfield, WI on Thursday, December 30 Visitation from 10:00am to Noon, service to follow.  Burial will be in Wausau, WI on December 31.

Bill was born to Fred and Lydia(Seamen) Ingersoll in 1924 in Waverly, IA.  He proudly served during WWII in the Navy.  Upon returning, he competed his Bachelor’s degree.  He worked for the State of WI in Job Service.  The work that most clearly defined who Bill was, is the work he did as a Gideon for 32 years, getting the Gospel into the hands of tens of thousands of people.  Many people in his family and community knew him by his generous desire to help.  

Bill is survived by his wife Elizabeth and his son Stephen (Susan) Ingersoll, six grandchildren; Kimberly (Russ)Freeman, Larry William (Denise) Sanchez, Lance (Kristie) Sanchez, John (Becca) Wruck, Joshua (Chantelle) Wruck, Russell (Beth) Wruck , twenty-five great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 

Bill is proceeded in death by his parents, Fred and Lydia, his three brothers and wives, Everett (Mabel) Ingersoll, Wayne (Burnett) Ingersoll, Neil (Darlene) Ingersoll; a sister and her husband, Arlene (Albert) Kammeyer, Spouse, LeVera (Prochnow) Ingersoll.

In lieu of flowers, family is requesting donation to Gideon International or United Methodist Church, Plainfield.
